Testimonials I was really inspired by the skills displayed by the tutors. The techniques we'd studied were illustrated in the lessons I'd observed. The feedback was honest and done in a really constructive way - thanks! The Young Learner's session was fabulous - a real insight into the different techniques needed and the ways the learning can be conducted. The deadlines were well spaced throughout the course, giving plenty of time to complete the assignments. The level of guidance for the first lesson did vary from tutor to tutor. I felt it should have been the same for each student. Overall though, really enjoyed it all - thank you. I spent a lot of time researching potential TEFL courses in Prague to attend. Narrowing my choices down to two; I chose Oxford TEFL on a coin toss! I could not be more satisfied with my choice and would be dissapointed had I not gone with Oxford. The staff is not only experienced, but delightfully friendly and upbeat! With a course that is so intense, it is admirable that the staff can make the month seem like more of an adventure rather than 4 weeks of class, homework, yada yada. I should also mention that they are absolutely hilarious!! It's hard to be bummed out about much because you're constantly surrounded with their corky British humour. My overall expectations were far surpassed, and I appreciate the effort put into personally relating to each of us "trainees" and providing with the support we needed. THANKS GUYS! YOU ROCK! This was exactly what I had expected and wanted. The course focused on preparing self-reliant teachers, but the staff were available as great resources. The grammar and phonology reviews were helpful. Lessons on how to teach receptive skills and vocabulary were great; a similarly structured lesson for grammar might be helpful, as would a bit more time with error correction. The tutors' feedback on trainees' teaching was extremely valuable. Overall I feel well-prepared and far more confident as I begin this new career. Thank you For somebody who swore to never become a teacher, Oxford TEFL Prague was the perfect place to come and actually do such a thing. Despite my apprehension and nerves at the beginning, I was soon suprised by how much I was enjoying the course. I honestly feel you have a great set up here - wonderful location, great friendly professional supportive staff, and all the resources any trainee teacher could ever need. I felt from the very beginning that Oxford TEFL Prague was a steady pair of hands guiding us all through the course in a helpful and supportive manner. I wouldn't have wanted to do it with anyone else, and I'll be recommending you. Thanks! David and Sean are very friendly and work well with each other. Between David's humor and Sean's dry wit I found every class to be entertaining, efficient, and most importantly, worth taking. The teaching practice is rewarding, especially when the nervousness begins to wear away. I got a lot of feedback sessions with the tutors and plan on implementing their suggestions in my future classes. Overall the course is very inviting and personal. I really got to know all of my fellow trainees and we all looked forward to Pub Night! Prague is a beautiful city with many enchanting people and places. The course is very intensive, but a valuable asset to teaching and for life. It has proveded me with invaluable experiences, and I feel like a more capable teacher. Excellent standard and quality of teaching. It's amazing how much I learnt in such a short period of time. The course requires a lot from you. You really need to immerse yourself in it. English is my second language so I feel that I have tremendously benefited from the course. Overall, the course was excellent. Being a teacher already, I had to completely learn how to teach in a new way. I feel as though I am now able to teach English as a second language, but I am also an overall better teacher. The course staff was extremely knowledgeable and the teaching methods used impacted my learning and teaching most positively. Thank you for working hard and helping us become good teachers.. I think the course was excellent. I arrived really terrified at the thought of being made to teach so soon and the amount of hard work I had ahead of me. But I think that everything we did was very manageable - at no point did I feel overwhelmed. Everyone (both tutors and trainees) was supportive and friendly throughout the course. I felt the level of guidance and help was very good. Most importnatly, I now feel I have the necessary skills and confidence to be able to teach successfully. Even though it was not my first time teaching, I think I developed many skills that I didn't know I had. It was very challenging as we had a lot to do in just four and a half weeks, but it was effective because we learned and exploited our abilities to teach. I enjoyed the course very much. Everything from the tutors to the facilities and resources exceeded my expectations. The material we learned was extremely useful and pertinent. The staff was also very helpful in the weeks leading up to the course. Sean and David were extremely helpful in feedback. Sean was also very helpful in the careers department. The feeling of community within the school made the course that much more enjoyable. Overall the course was very well organized with good feedback and everything was explained clearly. They were helpful with finding jobs & accommodation for after the course. I thought the course was excellent - very professional, well run and organized. I had every confidence that the staff at Oxford TEFL knew what they were doing, knew their subjects well and were very helpful. Keep it up. The course has been really challenging for me, primarily because of the reports. I have never done anything like that before. However, I found this work very useful. It teaches you to think and analyse. Secondly, I am a teacher, but still I've discovered during the course that to teach people who don't speak the same language is really something different and very interesting! I love my students; they are warm and responsive. Our tutors were great! Thank You! The course was an exciting but also an intense one. You will improve a lot and there's a huge variety of teaching methods and approaches you're going to be faced with. It empowers you with teaching skills and teaching techniques. First I hated it, then I despised it, but eventually I loved it. It's a real challenge that makes you grow stronger. I enjoyed every second of my stay with Oxford TEFL. The course was great. I'm a professional teacher, but I've learnt so much. The atmosphere was helpful and creative. The staff was fantastically professional. I found this course to be wonderful. It has been so helpful on my track to teach English. I think the length of the course is the perfect amount of time - I was very busy, but not overwhelmed. I got in some good teaching practice and the feedback that followed was always helpful. I found our tutors to be very willing to help out each time I needed it or just had a simple question. During my job search already I notice that all the schools want or look for a TESOL certificate. I am very glad that I can check that box - I know it will get me much farther in my teaching. I enjoyed the course very much. It was very challenging and constantly pushed you. It's a lot of work in a short space of time but I gained confidence in my ability to perform under pressure. I know I have become a better teacher and just better with people in general. I felt that the tutors and reception staff were always there for guidace and support The reception staff is awesome - always went above and beyond. The classroom environment was always a safe and supportive place to be - I feel very happy with my choice to do this program - Thank you. Wow! The course certainly gave new meaning to the word intense! All of the content was relevant and contained everything I needed to be able to go out and have the confidence to teach English. The insight I gained and the techniques that were taught were invaluable. I would certainly recommend to anyone embarking on a career teaching English to take the time and do a course such as this one. The course was a lot of hard work, where at times the end was a distant spec on the horizon, but ultimately what I have learnt about myself and about teaching outweighs those memories of late nights spent finishing off assignments! I would like to say that I have found all staff very friendly and happy to help when I have asked for any assistance. The course is intense, but well worth it. I have learned a lot about the English language and how to be an effective teacher. The tutors are all friendly and were more than willing to help the trainees with any difficulties that came up. By the middle of week 3, pennies start to drop and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Excellent support from tutors which keeps you going and the social aspect is great - going to the pub after a long day really helps with the relaxation/chill side of things. The course was very well structured and all the tutors were extremely knowledgeable and professional. The hands on approach to input sessions means that you are constantly exposed to useful techniques and ideas to use in your own teaching. The teaching practice is well organised and the feedback and support from tutors is invaluable, especially as those first few lessons can be pretty scary! I would definitely recommend he course. It is intensive and exhausting, but I feel so confident about starting a teaching job, it was worth it. The personal approach at Oxford is very worthwhile and rewarding. many thanks for a great 4 weeks. This course was relevant and useful for all aspects of teaching and finding teaching positions throughout the world. I felt it was challenging and that it has prepared me very well to go into a new career in a very short period of time. I think the instructors are outstanding and very supportive. Thank you. I've really enjoyed the course. I think it's been very interesting, stimulating and challenging. It was very well organized, the lessons were fun and the teachers were approachable. It is a lot of work, and although you are warned, I think it's hard to prepare for. Having said that, by the end of the course, I definitely feel that I have learnt a massive amount and feel much better prepared for teaching. To go from no clue to feeling like that is a major achievement. The lessons we had were relevant and well-thought. I found the grammar and phonology lessons very interesting and helpful for my teaching.
My only other comment is that as it is so much work, it might benefit from being a couple of days longer, so students have one more day for the learner profile and one more day for sorting out TP log and lesson planning. But in the end we all got it done and I think I will definitely be an infinitely better and more professional teacher than I would be had I not done the course. I would thoroughly recommend the course to anyone thinking of teaching English. It was fantastic. The course was very useful and I've learnt a lot of useful things. The tutors were really friendly, laid back and knowledgeable. It was good that we got to teach two different levels of students. I think that - even though four weeks isn't enough to cover all aspects of teaching - we have covered as much as we could. Now we all know much more not only about teaching but also about the language we are going to be teaching, such as grammar and phonology. I really enjoyed the course, even though it was a bit stressful at times. The teaching practices were great and the pub nights were super. It was a great course. Thanks! I found the course to be very intensive but very well organized and planned. I thought that the tutors did a great job of preparing us for the language exam as well as for the other assignments. I thought that the feedback from each of the tutors was very constructive and very helpful for the development of my teaching. I felt that there could have been a few extra days added into the training course in order to do a more in-depth and accurate analysis for our learner profiles. Overall, the course was great and provided me with very important information concerning a huge amount of training practice and input sessions. The service and support was provided during the whole duration of the course and we were free to use all materials, resources, library and also we got a help from tutors pretty much anytime we needed. For me personally, the pace and demand of the course was quite high and I felt there was not enough time to get everything done to the best quality as I wanted but also that is a challenge that I appreciate and now I know how to work, prepare and analyse things under the pressure of time and it makes me feel confident and more flexible in future lesson planning. I think the course was a really great experience and chance to see, learn and gain very useful knowledge about teaching English. Everyone on the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. As far as course content and teaching, I was really quite surprised at how much I'd learned by the end. Oxford TEFL was recommended to me and I will certainly recommend it to others. Thorough but manageable! I spent time preparing for the course by reading up and improving my grammar. The course is very well organised, and the tutors are very supportive. I was recommended this course by a friend and I shall now pursue the ode of recommending Oxford Tefl - Prague. Great environment, great staff, and great fellow teachers. Really enjoyed the teaching and disappointed I'm not staying in Prague! I thought the course was excellent - great value with really helpful tutors and well-devised format. You couldn't improve it if you'd tried. The only thing I would have liked to know before taking the course is more about my instructors. The course was just excellent! I have been teaching English for about 25 years but this month in Prague has been an absolutely extraordinary one for me! I have learned so much here I have a feeling I've graduated from one more university. The tutors are excellent. They are real masters in their profession. I enjoyed every moment of their lessons and their feedback on my lessons no matter how good or not very good my lessons were. Their tendency to find positive moments in trainees' teaching rather than negative is really helpful. Their advice is constructive, objective and adds to our professional growth. I also liked the atmosphere. It is not tense, very friendly and at the same time it stimulates hard work. I thought the course was very helpful. Although it was extremely intensive all of the tutors were calm and helpful during and after feedback. They never lost patience with any of the students. I could have done without the forms, but they were helpful in organizing the TP log, so I guess they were needed. In general the course was excellent. I learned a lot in the four weeks that I participated in it. I really enjoyed the course as a whole and thought that the teaching practice time was effectively disporsed throughout the month. My favourite input session was on multiple intelligences. I found the activities and discussion to be very informative and even journalled about it! Overall though I thought that time management was excellent considering the duration and focus of the course. The course was great fun. Can be very hard work but a really good laugh. The tutors are really good and if you struggle with anything, they will tell you and they will help. They are always available for help and will also join us at the pub! The 6 hours observed teaching practise was a real eye opener. Tutors would give honest feedback without being too harsh. I really enjoyed the course and made lots of new friends! Thank you! Was very pleased with the course overall. The input sessions were very valuable - I honestly didn't think it was possible to learn so much grammar + phonology in four weeks. Assignment criteria were clear, and assignments were worth-while. Teaching practice of course was the most beneficial piece - and feedback from tutors and fellow trainees was very helpful in creating my own teaching style. The course was quite rigorous. Now, at the end, I can say, honestly, I feel I've learned a great deal about ELT and I am prepared for an ELT career. There were small things that could have gone better, but on the whole, I value this experience and the instruction of all the tutors. Four weeks of hard work was more enjoyable than I could have expected. I experienced how important the working environment is in getting better results. The tutors are all so approachable, supportive and friendly. Good to work with in the daytime and fun to hang out with in the free time.All my co-trainees were great as well - always supportive and helpful. I made a good use of the library - I love your resource books - a good source for more inspiration. Everything was fair. Classes were always made exciting. Thank you for giving me this education! I enjoyed the course thoroughly. The input sessions were fun and informative (both in terms of material and teaching styles), the teaching practices were challenging, the community of peers and tutors was supportive overall, and the facilities were adequate. The phonology sessions were fun and very productive for me, as was the Unknown Language course. The amount of paper was daunting at times but fair warning was given. I did find it helpful when handouts were hole-punched. Also, maybe telling us where to classify an important document (this goes in the phonology section, this in the teaching skills, etc.) would have been helpful, but these are small issues. Loved it overall. My four weeks at Oxford TEFL in Prague have been a life changing experience for me. I had only recently sold a business, I did not want to retire and was looking for a new direction in my life. I wanted direction that would give structure to my life while being fun and enjoyable. In four short weeks I feel I have found that direction and I am on the road to becoming a teacher. I am impressed with the amount of material that was covered in these four weeks, I am more impressed with the amount that I remember. Although some theory was presented (and I enjoy the theory) most of the course was practical information I can use immediately. From beginning to end we were guided and informed, challenged and allowed to find out good, better, best paths" |
